Do I need to clean my home before leaving?

Yes. Please clean your home before you leave, so it is returned to the same standard as recorded in your check-in inventory, allowing for fair wear and tear.

This helps the checkout process run smoothly and reduces the chance of cleaning costs being deducted from your deposit.

What to clean

  • Kitchen: clean worktops, cupboards, sink, taps, hob, oven or microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and any other appliances.
  • Bathroom: clean the toilet, basin, shower or bath, mirrors, tiles, taps and fittings.
  • Floors and surfaces: vacuum, mop where suitable and wipe down shelves, windowsills, skirting boards and furniture.
  • Storage areas: empty and clean wardrobes, drawers, cupboards and any storage spaces linked to your home.
  • Rubbish and belongings: remove all personal items, food, waste and recycling before you hand back your keys.

If the home is not left in the required condition and professional cleaning is needed, the cost may be deducted from your deposit through the deposit return process.
