What are the requirements for a guarantor?
A guarantor must meet Morro’s affordability and referencing requirements before they can support an application.
The guarantor must have a gross annual income of at least 42 times the monthly rent. They must also be a UK resident and willing to sign a legally binding guarantee as part of the tenancy agreement.
Guarantors complete their own referencing checks through Homeppl, Morro’s third-party referencing provider. These checks may include:
- Identity verification
- Credit checks
- Income verification
- Fraud prevention checks
The guarantee means the guarantor may be responsible for rent and other tenancy obligations if the resident does not meet them, so they should read everything carefully before signing.
If you think you may need a guarantor, speak to the Morro team before applying. They can explain what is required and help you understand the next steps.
