What happens if I leave before my notice period ends?
You can move out before your notice period ends, but your tenancy does not end early just because you have left the home.
If you vacate before the formal end date, you will still be responsible for rent and all other obligations under your tenancy agreement until the tenancy lawfully ends. This includes looking after the home, keeping it secure and making sure any agreed payments are made up to the end of the notice period.
For example, if your tenancy ends on the 15th but you move out on the 1st, rent remains due until the 15th. Leaving your keys early does not automatically reduce the rent or bring the agreement to an end.
If you plan to leave early
- Let the Front of House team know your planned move-out date.
- Arrange your pre-checkout inspection before you leave, where possible.
- Remove all belongings and clean the home before handing back keys.
- Return all keys, fobs and access devices to Reception.
- Provide a forwarding address and arrange mail redirection if needed.
If you are unsure about your final rent date or responsibilities after moving out, speak to the team before you hand back your keys.
