What is a guarantor?
A guarantor is someone who agrees to take responsibility for your rent and other tenancy obligations if you are unable to meet them.
This is usually a close friend, family member or, in some cases, an employer. A guarantor gives Morro extra reassurance where an applicant does not meet the standard affordability requirements on their own.
If a guarantor is needed, they will complete their own referencing checks through Homeppl, Morro’s third-party referencing provider. This may include identity verification, credit checks, income verification and fraud prevention checks.
Your guarantor must understand that the guarantee is legally binding. Their liability continues for the full duration of the tenancy, so it is important they read the documents carefully before signing.
If you think you may need a guarantor, speak to the Morro team before applying. They can explain the requirements and help you understand what information your guarantor will need to provide.
