Can I still apply if I don’t meet the affordability criteria?
Yes. If you do not meet the standard affordability criteria, you may still be able to apply with a guarantor.
A guarantor is someone who agrees to be legally responsible for your rent if you are unable to pay. They will need to complete their own referencing checks and meet Morro’s guarantor affordability requirement, which is a gross annual income of at least 42 times the monthly rent.
Before applying, it is worth speaking to the Morro team so they can talk you through your options. This is especially helpful if your income is variable, you are self-employed, you are moving jobs or your circumstances do not fit neatly into a standard assessment.
Referencing is carried out by Homeppl, Morro’s third-party referencing provider. They will review your application and, where relevant, your guarantor’s information too.
If you are unsure whether you need a guarantor, contact the team through bymorro.com before paying the holding deposit.
