Do I need a guarantor?
You may need a guarantor if you do not meet Morro’s standard affordability threshold on your own.
The standard affordability requirement is a gross annual income of at least 27 times the monthly rent. If your income falls below this, or if your circumstances need extra support during referencing, a guarantor may be accepted as an alternative.
Students are exempt from the standard affordability criteria and do not need a guarantor on income grounds. In some cases, a guarantor may still be requested depending on the wider application and referencing outcome.
If a guarantor is needed, they will complete their own checks through Homeppl, Morro’s third-party referencing provider. They must meet the guarantor affordability requirement and be willing to sign a legally binding guarantee.
If you are unsure whether you need a guarantor, speak to the Morro team before paying the holding deposit. They can help you understand your options and what information may be needed.
