What fire safety measures are in place?

Morro buildings have a range of fire safety measures in place to help protect residents, visitors and the wider building.

At The Altham, this includes smoke detectors in apartments and communal areas, heat detectors in kitchens, fire doors on corridors, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers and fire blankets in appropriate locations, and a fire alarm system that is tested regularly.

The building also operates a Defend in Place fire strategy. This means the action you take may depend on where the alarm or fire is. If a fire starts in your apartment, or you are directly affected, you should evacuate. If the alarm sounds in a shared space, you should leave the building using the nearest safe exit.

Please keep fire doors closed, do not block corridors or exits, and never tamper with detectors, alarms or safety equipment. Smoking, vaping, barbecues and anything that increases fire risk are not permitted inside the building.

Your building’s fire safety information is shared in your handbook, the Morro App and notices around the building. If you are unsure what to do, speak to the Front of House team.
