Will my rent increase?

Yes. Because Morro tenancies are periodic, your rent may be reviewed from time to time.

If a rent increase is proposed, you’ll receive a formal written notice using the prescribed process under section 13 of the Housing Act 1988. The notice will explain the proposed new rent and the date it would take effect.

Your rent cannot be increased more than once in any 12-month period through this process. You’ll be given notice in writing so you have time to review the change, ask questions and seek advice if needed.

If you believe a proposed rent increase is above the market rate, you have the right to refer it to the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) before the new rent takes effect.

If you receive a rent review notice and are unsure what it means, contact the Morro team. They can explain the practical details, including the proposed amount, timing and what happens next.
